The Cost of Beef

My research on going green takes me to places I sometimes wish I hadn’t been.  I’m currently working on a series of articles on vegetarianism, and today I found some facts that really blew my mind.

In a previous article, I wrote about the shortage of water in parts of the south.  Today I learned that the cost to the environment for raising beef in terms of water is 14 trillion gallons a year.  I cannot even begin to imagine that amount of water.  Yet aquifers and water tables are raped each year for the steak on your dinner plate tonight.  It gives an old man pause…

Drive on,

Charlie~
