I had posted that I was curious abut what kind of footprint that I would leave on a daily excursion to the farmer’s market. Being really interested, I begin a search this AM to determine if I could find out anything useful. I found it, but in an unusual way. One of the things I am interested in is StumbledUpon, a social bookmarking site that allows me to surf sites that only I am interested in. I get pertinent information on subjects such as the environment, buddhism, writing, vegetarian lifestyle and archaeology - all of great interest to me. I really like this site, because I do so much research on various items for my freelance duties. it is worth checking out…
I found this site - Earth Day Network - and took the quiz that they offer. In the quiz they ask for age, demographical information, and other simple things that help them determine what to use for building information.
I find that with my lifestyle, which I feel is fairly ecologically friendly, is just not so great. I find that:
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON. WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.2 PLANETS. |

So I am a bit ahead of the rest of the country, I guess. A footprint of 18, as compared to 24 of the rest of the nation. It appears I have some work to do here, folks…
Peace,
Charlie~
