Feeling Trendy? Go Green

I read a really interesting article this evening by a gal who made a point I cannot ignore.  I will not bore you with telling you how the global ice cap is melting, or that Al Gore might just be right.  If you spend any time on this blog, you already know that.

Her point is thus - a lot of people make noise about going green, and do little about it.  She had went to a supermarket to buy a green pepper for dinner, and looking in the organics section found what she needed.  The sad part was the pepper was $2.99.  ???  Yes, because it was labeled organic, the price was over the moon.  You can go into just about any grocery store and buy them for half that price.  And have just about as much guarantee that it is organic as if you had bought from the organic department of another store.  Only buying locally determines both the freshness and the chance of it truly being organic.

She then proceeded out of this particular store and watched people loading their grub into  large gas guzzling SUV’s, and was further perturbed.  With good cause, I might add.

Going green does not mean buying your sheets at Satara, where a single sheet can run over 200 bucks - HEY!  It’s organic!  What it means is adapting a lifestyle that is truly green, if it is no more than turning off the lights when you leave a room and fixing that dripping faucet.  It is all about attitude, not about trend.  Mother Earth will thank you…

Drive on,

Charlie~
